Excursions in Santiago de Chile, wines and culture at the foot of the Andes mountains

Santiago de Chile is a city to wander around. Located at the foot of the imposing Andes, the Chilean capital is perfect for those travelers who like to visit cultural destinations, but also for those who enjoy a vacation with a good wine in hand.

If you are planning your visit to Santiago, start by choosing the area in which to look for your accommodation. We recommend the communes of Las Condes, Providencia or Ñuñoa. Once you have your accommodation booked, it is time to organize what to do in Santiago. These are the essential tours: to get to know the center and historical places such as the Palacio de la Moneda, the central market or the Plaza de Armas, take a guided city tour. If you like art and culture, you cannot miss places like the Museum of Fine Arts, the Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art or the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center.

Wine lovers will find paradise in Santiago de Chile. The city is surrounded by vineyards that are worth visiting, such as Concha y Toro, Undurraga and Santa Rita, where you can learn about the winemaking process and taste some of the best wines. Don't miss Carmenere, a variety found almost exclusively in Chile.

Santiago is also the perfect destination for snow and nature lovers. Just 50 kilometres from the capital are the ski resorts of La Parva, Valle Nevado and Farellones. A little further south, also in the Andes mountain range, there are incredible destinations for hiking, such as Cajón del Maipo, with its Embalse El Yeso. Further north, in the Valparaíso region, but just over two hours from Santiago, are Portillo and Laguna del Inca.

Of course, you can't leave Santiago without taking a trip to the cities of Viña and Valparaíso. From Santiago you will find some tours for a day trip to these tourist places, where you will enjoy delicious seafood and lots of culture.

Everything ready? Just one more thing, so you don't waste any time. As soon as you arrive at Santiago airport, the shuttle will be waiting for you to take you directly to your accommodation. Have a good trip and enjoy your visit!
