Description

Description

We’ll leave El Calafate early in the morning and take Route 40, driving along Lake Argentino to Hotel La Leona, where you’ll stop for a snack. Then you’ll continue on, and start spotting Fitz Roy on the way to El Chaltén. Once there, you’ll receive your box lunch and be taken to the trailhead to begin your self-guided hike on marked trails (you can do only one during the time of the activity):

  • Laguna Capri: 6 km, 2 hours, easy.
  • Lago Torre: 12 km, 4 hours, moderate.
  • Camping Poincenot: 11 km, 4 hours, moderate.
  • Chorrillo del Salto: 4 km, 1.5 hours, easy.
  • Pliegue Tumbado: 11 km, 5 hours, challenging.
  • Glaciar Torre: 7 km, 2 hours, moderate.

During the time available, you can visit one of the different scenic viewpoints that offer outstanding views of Mount Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre. Afterward, we’ll return to El Chaltén to begin the trip back to El Calafate.

Important notes

  • You can choose which trek you’ll do when you board the vehicle.
  • Any of the trails are subject to availability on the day of the tour.
  • This tour does not include the hike to Laguna de los Tres (the classic Fitz Roy viewpoint) amongst the trek possibilities.
  • If you’re staying at an Airbnb, pickup is not door-to-door: we’ll coordinate a meeting point to start the tour.
  • Between May and September, some trails can be very difficult due to the weather, trail conditions, and fewer daylight hours.
  • In the middle of winter, it’s recommended to wear proper warm clothing and snow footwear to hike the trails, even to Laguna Capri.
  • In addition, the National Park may require trekking poles and crampons depending on the day’s conditions.
