Discover one of the most impressive natural treasures of Chile’s Lake District with this Alerce Andino National Park tour from Puerto Varas, perfect for travelers seeking a true nature connection.

We will drive along the Route of the Settlers, passing the town of Alerce and the coastal area of Puerto Montt, before reaching Chamiza, the gateway to the park.

Covering more than 39,000 hectares, Alerce Andino National Park is a sanctuary of biodiversity, home to native species and the magnificent ancient alerce trees, some over 3,000 years old.

Together with our guide, you will hike the low challenging Salto Río Chaica y Alerce Milenario Trail, an 8 km (5 mi) round-trip route in 3 hours through the evergreen forest, learning about the history and unique characteristics of its ecosystem. There will also be time to rest, breathe in the fresh air, and admire the untouched beauty of this remarkable place, including the chance to see a thousand-year-old alerce tree.

At the end of the excursion, we will return to Puerto Varas with unforgettable memories of one of southern Chile’s most iconic national parks.

*If your accommodation is an Airbnb or the Hotel Casa Azul, we will have to set a meeting point to begin the tour, because the pickup is not made in this kind of places.

*The end time of phis activity might be modified because of the number of passengers during January and February, which is bigger than the rest of the year. Because of that, our recommendation is not to buy tickets to leave Puerto Varas until 5 hours after the end of the tour or leave your trip for the day after.
